Labor Day – a nice, long weekend where families can get one last get together before children get into the rigors of school. But do you know the origins of Labor Day? Like the fact that the first Labor Day was celebrated back on September 5 of 1882. Here is a link to some interesting facts about this holiday. (https://www.dol.gov/laborday/history.htm). Some good news for your travels this year includes the fact that gas prices are at an 11-year low for this holiday. The national average is down $1.00 per gallon where it was a year ago. Needless to say, lower gas prices mean more people will likely travel. Now for the bad news – law enforcement will be setting up numerous speed traps along with the Commonwealth of Virginia; particularly along busy interstates and highways. Just driving from Suffolk to Virginia Beach today there were over 8 highway patrol vehicles on the ready with radars. By all means, DO NOT DRINK AND DRIVE! Slow down. If you get pulled over, be polite, cooperative, and, most important – be silent! Don’t talk to them until you’ve talked to us. We are here to protect your rights. Have a happy and safe holiday weekend. Randall, Page & Bruch, P.C.
